Working Aussie Source is ALWAYS in need of new feature photos for the home page. If you have a photo you'd like to see on the Working Aussie Source Home Page, please read the guidelines for feature photo submissions.

GUIDELINES FOR FEATURE PHOTO SUBMISSIONS

1. I love getting photos in the mail! But, the feature photo is, in a way, an advertisement for the Working Australian Shepherd. Only photos showing dogs working stock in a calm, authoritative manner are likely to be published. In other words, I don't publish photos of dogs chasing sheep. I receive many "first encounter with stock" photos; unless they are very special, these will take a long time to get to the head of the queue. Practical ranch and farm work, advanced work, and unusual shots tend to trump ducks and beginning work in the queue. But eventually, most acceptable photographs will be featured.

2. The "hole" that the photo goes into is vertical and small. Horizontal shots, especially those taken from some distance away, don't usually look very impressive there. Vertical and close-up shots look better. But there are always exceptions.

3. The ideal size to send me is 72 pixels per inch, at least 6 inches wide. But I can always make it smaller; I can't always make it bigger. If the original is too small, and is also low resolution (under 150 pixels per inch), it cannot be expanded to fit without becoming "pixilated" (a useless collage of little squares).

4. I choose by the quality of the photo alone. You do not need to be a Working Aussie Source listed breeder, and the dog does not have to have a "working" pedigree.

5. I try to not feature the same photographer, the same owner, or, especially, the same dog, too often. If you have a lot of really nice photographs of the same dog/s taken on the same day, think about submitting a photo essay for the Stockdog Library instead. Those are really fun.

6. Please include with your photo: the registered name of the dog (if it is registered), working titles if any, owner's name and location, photographer's name, and, if pertinent, where the photo was taken and what was going on. Mail to: Working Aussie Source
