Trial-sponsoring Associations and Clubs
Australian Shepherd Club of America official calendar. ASCA affiliate clubs host many trials all over North America and western Europe. Most common are arena trials but farm trials (variable trials in a small-scale area) are becoming more common. Ranch trials and Post Advanced (open field) trials are also possible offerings. Cattle, sheep, and ducks are the usual stock (all three, normally), but geese and goats are possible. All trials are judged. Trial formats are intended to showcase the working abilities of Aussies. Listings on this calendar are usually only a few months ahead, but always have .pdf premium links.
Another ASCA calendar, privately maintained, is Frank's Calendar. It is not complete, as it relies upon voluntary submissions. Both list all ASCA events, not just stockdog trials.
Another online aid is this Google Map of the locations of upcoming ASCA trials, associated with the Facebook group Aussie Stockdog.
Australian Shepherd Trialing Association
Time-and-points trialing group which sponsors non-judged trials with payout to the winners. Courses vary, any herding breed can compete, but are meant to showcase Aussie talents. No titles. No activity recently.
American Herding Breeds Association
AHBA herding trials are open to all herding breeds of any or no registration. The AHBA offers herding instinct testing, certification, and titles in a variety of trial types including arena, ranch, and 'large flock'. All trials are judged. Stock may include geese, sheep, ducks, goats, or (rarely) cattle. Designed to be accessible to all herding breeds.
The American Kennel Club
Offers instinct testing, certification, and trialing titles. All trials are judged. Designed to be accessible to AKC registered Herding Group breeds, although spayed/neutered non-AKC Aussies may petition to compete.
United States Border Collie Handlers Association
The USBCHA allows any breed to compete in their open-field and arena sheep and cattle trials. Designed to showcase the particular talents of Border Collies. No titles. May be judged or points/time. Trial requirements vary according to the terrain or ranch.
Cowdog News Events Calendar
Cattle clinics and trials sponsored by various stockdog associations. Commercial cattle-working breeds such as Border Collies, Kelpies, Cattle Masters, Hangin Tree Cowdogs, and crosses of these breeds, are the typical competitors. May be judged or points/time. No titles.
Announcements of AHBA, AKC, and ASCA trials and related events such as clinics.
Rodear America Cowdog Association Horseback cattle trials in which the dog, horse, and rider work and are scored as a team.
