DESCRIPTION: Windmill is an ASCA Hall of Fame Kennel (#49) and producer of 4 Hall of Fame dogs/bitches.
I first met this breed while I was training and showing horses in 1965. I have been involved with Australian Shepherds ever since. My first registered Australian Shepherd was purchased in 1978. I competed in obedience for 2 years while studying the breed, genetics, structure and acquiring knowledge that would allow me to start a successful breeding program. My kennel name was registered in January 1980 and is now a permanently registered ASCA kennel name. Windmill is also a registered kennel name for Australian Shepherds with the AKC.
My goal, from the beginning, has been to breed mentally stable, structurally sound, moderate, athletic dogs, capable of doing any task they are trained for. The traits I want in a working stock dog are dogs capable of handling anything from a small flock of sheep to helping ranchers gather cattle in rough open spaces. Besides strong working instinct, I want a self confident dog capable of making decisions without assistance yet still biddable.
Before moving to Idaho, my passion was helping ranchers gather cattle in the rough CA coastal hills with Zoom (HOF SVCH, WTCH, Ch. Windmill’s Need For Speed, DNA-VP,JS-N-OP, JS-E-OP, RS-E GS-E, OA, OAJ, OFTD-s, RNX, RA). I plan on continuing this passion once I am settle in ID. In addition I will continue to train and trial my dogs in ASCA.
Longevity and health are key issues and will not be sacrificed to achieve these goals.
